Samurai! Exhibit at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts

I had quite the art-filled weekend, visiting the Boston ICA for a Barry McGee exhibit as well as the MFA for a Sebastiao Salgado lecture (more on this later).  So much good stuff!

Luckily we got to the MFA a bit early before the lecture which gave some time to take a look at the recently added Samurai exhibit and holy lord it was a-maz-ing.  All the articles are on loan from the collection of Ann and Graham Gund and every piece is simply stunning.  This is a section of a helmet.

It blows my mind that things made as far back as 1400 were so intricate and beautiful, but also functional.

It is hard to describe in words just how amazing this exhibit was to me.  So many awesome articles of history from so long ago.  I can't recommend it enough.  If you are in the Boston area anytime now through August 4th when the exhibit ends I highly recommend you take a look.  Do yourself a favor and get some culture in ya!
