So This Is How It Begins: Guy Refuses to Stop Drone-Spying on Seattle Woman
Rebecca J Rosen of the Atlantic quoting a Seattle resident who complained to the police about a neighbor flying a drone above her yard:
My husband went to talk to the man on the sidewalk outside our home who was operating the drone with a remote control, to ask him to not fly his drone near our home. The man insisted that it is legal for him to fly an aerial drone over our yard and adjacent to our windows. He noted that the drone has a camera, which transmits images he viewed through a set of glasses. He purported to be doing "research".
I wrote about this only a month ago. Drones are coming people, and privacy will certainly be a concern. Soon these things will be all over the place and if we don't start thinking about the implications soon; the whole will turn into a shit show.
In the case of the Seattle woman, she called the police who chose to do nothing. Since there technically aren't any laws in place for this stuff yet, and the owner of the drone wouldn't cease flying above his neighbors yard when asked, I'd offer these suggestions:
Find a way to destroy his drone.
Find a way to capture his drone and then destroy it in front of him.
Drones can and should be used for good but if there are people out there like this guy being douchebags about it the bad stigma drones already have will never be changed.
