The Correct Way to Write the Date

xkcd points out that the International Standards Organization (aka International Organization for Standardization) set a global standard in 1988 for how to correctly write the date.  I don't think I have ever seen the date written this way and I work for a company with a bunch of international offices.  The two most common I see are:

  • United States - 2.27.13

  • Europe - 27.2.13
