North Point Park: My Favorite Park in The Boston Area

by
Do you remember Boston before the Big Dig? I was young but I certainly do. I remember the large, hulking, flat out ugly green highway that ran through most of the city. Now in it's place? A beautiful and fun park called the Greenway in which the traffic from Rt 93 flows underneath. The big dig sucked for a long time, but in the past few years I've seen a lot of improvement in terms of the parks and open spaces in the Boston/Cambridge area which are all projects related to the Big Dig. My current favorite spot? North Point Park.
This park is flat out amazing in a number of ways:
You can access it from Cambridge, Boston's North End, or Charlestown. Each entrance has so many unique things to experience.
You can walk underneath the awesome Zakim Bridge.
To get into the North End from the Charlestown side you must cross using waterway locks (cool!)
It is still relatively unknown so you usually have the place almost to yourself.
Simply amazing views. Click each picture for the larger versions.
I would say that the best way to access the park is via the T by getting off at the Lechmere or Museum of Science stop. But as I mentioned you can access it from a number or areas. Map and more pictures below. Do yourself a favor and visit one of Bostons best parks!
